Coconut Creek Culture Series: 50 Years of Marine Science

Broward County has miles of beaches and has been a center for researchers in innovative, basic and applied marine research for 50 years. Research areas include coral reefs, mangroves, fish and shark, deep sea organismal biology and ecology, biodiversity and observation and modeling of large scale ocean circulation and coastal dynamics. way down the eastern seaboard from her native Maine to Florida. Her first job was in Wood’s Hole Oceanographic Institution. She received her M.S. at Nova Southeastern University in Biology and Coastal Zone Management and has worked at NSU’s Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography for the past 24 years.
